Last week I brought home my new TW200. It’s 24 years newer than my previous TW200 and it has about 31,000 less miles. Even though the old bike was still going strong, I was ready for refresh.
I purchased the bike from Ellensburg Powersports in Ellensburg, Washington. The MSRP, or manufacturers suggested retail price, was $4999.00. Ellensburg Powersports charged an additional $300 for “Freight and Setup”, $180 for “Licensing”, and $150 for “Documentation”. Washington State sales tax was $445.12. The total, “out the door” price was $6074.12. It’s interesting to note that the quote I received from Wenatchee Powersports was about $7000, and the “out the door” quote I received from Westside Motorsports in Spokane, Washington was approximately $7500.
The moral of the story is that the MSRP is only part of the story when shopping for a new motorcycle. It also might be worth your time to shop around.
